Prothonotary/Clerk of Courts

You can get a marriage license at the Prothonotary's Office located on the first floor of the Bedford County Courthouse.

Marriage License Information:

  • Both Parties need to be present
  • Application for Marriage License is only available between 8:30am to 4:00pm
  • $45 fee paid by Cash, Check, or Money Order
  • You will need a form of Photo I.D. (Driver’s License, Passport, etc.)
  • A Document with a Current Address
  • A Document with your Social Security Number is required
  • If you have had a previous marriage we will also need: A Certified copy of the last Divorce Decree or If previous marriage was terminated due to death, we will need a copy of the Death Certificate 
  • You will receive your marriage license the day of application but there is a three day wait for processing.
  • Marriage license is only good for 60 days
