“Help Save Our Bedford County Restaurants and Workers Fund.”
The Bedford County Board of Commissioners has launched a campaign and established a fund at Community Foundation for the Alleghenies to help save and assist Bedford County Restaurants and Restaurant workers. THIS IS NOT A COUNTY GOVERNMENT PROGRAM. NO COUNTY TAX DOLLARS WILL BE USED TO SUPPORT THIS FUND. IT WILL BE TOTALLY RELIANT ON PRIVATE DONATIONS.
The latest state mandate to close all indoor dining until January 4, 2021 is a crippling blow to restaurant owners who have to close and their employees. Through no fault of their own, now more than anytime we can remember in our lifetime, they are in need of community support.
Therefore, the Board of Commissions is reaching out to all those who may be able to assist us in mobilizing the good will that is so prevalent among our citizens. The campaign is three pronged. First, we encourage everyone, to every extent possible, to purchase gift cards directly from the restaurants or any entity that offers gift cards, who are being negatively impacted. Secondly order take-out meals from those restaurants, offering that service, as much as possible. Thirdly, make a tax-deductible donation, through Community Foundation for the Alleghenies at www.cfalleghenies.org

We have already received verbal commitments which total $3,000.00, to establish the fund. Individuals can donate on-line by visiting the Community Foundation website at www.cfalleghenies.org. Checks can be made payable to Bedford County Endowments, 127 South Juliana Street, Bedford, PA 15522. If you want to donate cash, please call 814-623-0044 and this will be arranged. Donated Funds will be used to assist individual unemployed/underemployed restaurant workers and owners, based upon individual needs or to sustain their operations. The application to receive financial support is also available at: www.cfalleghenies.org.
